I'm Home!!!

Well I'm soooo sorry that it has been a long long and I mean long time since I have last posted on here. It's horrible of me and if I ask for your guys forgiveness that would be wonderful....wooh thanks!

Well yes it is true....this Maegan Sara Reid is home for the holidays. I'm in saskatoon from the 10th of Dec to the 21st. Then Melissa, Stephen and I are on our way to Kelowna to see mom and dad. Woo hoo!! White Christmas that is forsure. I have to say when getting here I was shocked with the weather....not as cold as it should be, but for this woman who has been in a very hot country for so long it is still a shocker.

The last 11 months have been amazing. There have been times of joy and times of laughter, even times of sorrow, but through it I have really seen God's faithfulness, love and grace.
The last 4 months have been spent on a practical service to the YWAM centre. I've been working in the kitchen as manager and have been cooking for 80-200 people! Yeah it's been a steep learning curve for me, but has taught me a lot of good skills. It has taught me better communication with my co-workers, the responsibility of feeding people and caring for them, and some really key character skills of sticking with something even though it gets tough and not fun at all. It was a good time and I'm glad that I was able to do it.

Now I'll be sure to post more pictures when my family and I have taken a bunch of family shots. You'll then be able to see an updated picture of me! woohoo. Not much has changes, but ya know it's nice to see new pictures every now and then.

Well it's been a pleasure and you have a good day now!

What day are we on....oh right day 8

Well we've been on outreach now for 8 days and man have we done a good variety of things already. We've been talking to backpackers, working in schools, going to a youth group tonight, been to churches, and having a lot of fun while doing it. It's been an amazing time and hard at moments, but God continually shows himself faithful and good.

I've been going through a bit of stuff myself. Find out that I hold a lot of my identity in the things that I do. I'm a doer kind of person and there is nothing wrong with that, but when it becomes who you are instead of just who you are and who God has created you to be and opperate out of...it tends to get a little messy. So I'm learning to just chill and do as God is asking me at the time. It's interesting and hard to be in leadership, but I know God has gifted me in it, it only needs to be skilled and formed more so that I can continue to be an affective leader.

Our team is getting along really well together and I'm blessed to have a team that love and I mean love to laugh. If we're not eating we're laughing up a storm. It's really a good time and we find that we'll be breaking a lot of mind sets of people who think that Christians aren't out to have a good time. So it's been good and ministry stuff is going good. Alot of the time we find out only minutes before hand what we are going to do, but it really all works out and God moves in awesome ways.

This morning I got to teach an RE class (relegious education) and I was teaching grades 1-3. I sat them down all around me and we read the story of jonah. Then I got them to all draw pictures of the story and they came up with some pretty good stuff! really enjoyed it and made me think even more about becoming a teacher. so it was really good.

i should get going I think we're heading out to see a little bit more of Dalby. But I hope you all enjoy your day and be blessed!

First Day of Outreach!

So...we're finslly here on outreach. We left at a good 10 am time and arrived in Byron Bay shortly after lunch time. It was alot of fun and felt slightly wierd to be on the road with only 7 people in the van instead of 25 other people. The first day went well. We arrived and unpacked a bit, found out what we were going to be doing a bit more and then went in to Byron to pray and see what God had to say about Byron. We also prayed in to just the start of our outreach. It was a good time. Then we did a few things like grocery shopping and buying food for dinner. Then this evening we watched a movie called Invisible Children. It really made us think....a lot. I recommend watching this movie and it'll change the way that you see a few things. It's about the children of Sudan and how they must move from their homes to a hospital so that they will not get abducted in to a Rebel army. It's amazing what these kids do and how no one is doing anything about it. So it makes you think about what you can do.

The day went over well and I hope we continue push in to prayer and really bring that out. I feel like God wants me to push more in to prayer. I'm excited for the future days of outreach. I's love for you to pray and things you could would be....

Unity

Balance between relaxed and trying to get things done.

Good relationships with people formed.

Growth in prayer.

I'm Back from a trip!

Okay so…. I said that I was going to update this lovely website of mine earlier and I have failed to do it as soon as I had said. However, I am here now typing on Microsoft Office waiting until the wireless internet decides to work.

Well the latest trip that we’ve been on was to Airlie Beach and then on to Harvey bay. I’ll start with Airlie beach; here we set up what we like to call the Chai Tent. It’s a big old army tent that we set up at a point looking out in to the ocean. Airlie is a major backpackers sight so when we have a sign out front of the tenting saying free chai at 8pm we usually get a lot of people. So we go out and invite people from the bars and where ever else people are hanging out to come to the tent for some chai. It’s a really easy opportunity for us to invite them in and let them know what we’re all about. Also to show them that we’re real people and give them a different perspective on what Christians are like.

For this week, however Rhoda and myself were on kitchen! So we were cooking for about 43 people. We would cook it at a house that YWAM rents and then we would drive it in to town where our event was being held. It was really fun…sometimes tiring, but I had a lot of fun cooking. I even got to make some lemon meringue pie with really lemon juice squeezed by my very own hands. Yummy!!!! So over all it was a really good week.

Then we travel on down back in the direction of Brisbane to a lovely place called Harvey Bay! Here we split in to outreach teams and went out to work in schools. My team and I went to a school kids who don't have anywhere else to go. So it was really neat to get to work with them and hang out with them. They have a really awesome set up there. For instance... they have a cooking called Glendyne. It was about 10 minutes out of Harvey Bay and it was a school for class where they cater for different occasions, they have a huge metal and word working shops, there is an art room, ropes course, climbing wall, and a lot of other fun things. So it really tries to get them involved. They are some rough kids who have gone through some stuff that they never should have had to go through. It was a lot of fun to hanging out with them and loving on them by just chatting.

For the week in Hervey Bay my co-leader Nate was and at the moment still is in Auckland New Zealand. He found out that his visa ran out in two days while we were in Airlie beach so he had to get a flight out of the country. So the week went good for having to lead alone, but it was good. I learned a good amount of stuff and not the hard way. BUT don’t worry he has his visa and is coming back on the 5th of June. It’s going to be good!

I’ll give you a few more pictures now that I’ve taken, but these were with some ones camera, not my own. It was a ton of fun to experiment with and hopefully at some point I’ll be able to get my own camera of sorts.

Pictures with my film Camera...

So I'm going to post a few of my pictures that I took with my film camera. It's something that I've been getting in to a lot more lately and I hope whoever sees these will enjoy them. I'll explain them as I go along and tell you more of what's been going on in the life if Maegan.

This photo up top was taken just outside of a country town called Emerald. We got to for a day go to a ranch and see them work their cattle. I'm very much a horse lover so as always I took some shots of horses. I want to take some tho that aren't the norm so this one came out fairly nice.

This one was just a neat horse shoe that was sitting on the fence so I took it. I think in the future I'll alter it to black and white. Something that I'm looking in to or would really like to get is photoshop. To do some really neat stuff with the photo's that I take. So at some point I hope to get that.
This is one of my friend Lindsey. We both really enjoy taking pictures...as you can see she has her camera around her neck as well. haha I figure I could send this one to Nikon and they would buy it off of me.

So there are a few of them...I haven't done too much, but when I have a little time here or there I sure enjoy it. We'll see what happens with it.

So as of Lately I'm doing rather well. It's still a hard plow through the weeks. They get tiring and hard emotionally, but I've seen God's grace all over it. He gives me the strength when I'm week and tired. Some how I find that I can be doing more and more when I think I should be stopping. and resting, but God helps me through it. We were just in a place called Stradbroke Island...I'll have to get you guys some pictures of that because it's a beautiful place. But we were having our famous Beach to Bush "survivor" week. In my next post I'll explain that one more and give you a very good story as well. But basically what it's a week where we go through a lot of team building. They have a bunch of tasks and games that can bring out the true heart of people and the frustrations and we get to work through them. It's super good and prepares us all for outreach. But like I said I'll get you guys some pictures and awesome stories of the wonderful things that we did in my next post...which I promise will be soon. Enjoy the photo's for now.

If you guys want to pray for something for me it would be:
Strength emotionally/spiritually
That I wouldn't feel condemnation in anyway, but would walk as God wants me to walk. In just the everyday life stuff.
Outreach Preparation to Australia.
Planning and all that Jazz.

Thanks so much. I love you all.

It's been too long

Well it's been way too long since I've left a post on this thing so here we go again....yeah I'm not really consistent am I??? We'll work on that. Lets see what have I been up to lately? well tons and tons of stuff!!! Our school is off to the races and we're getting pretty far ahead already. There has been alot of openness already and man we're just doing awesome. Lectures that we've had are ones like hearing God's voice, prayer and intercession, Holy Spirit, Post modernism, and a few others. It's been good. I don't know if I said this in the other post but while we're on the road I'm head of Kitchen!!!! yaaaa buddy! It gets pretty crazy at times. I've got to plan the meals, buy them, pack them in our coolers, and make sure that they get cooked and that people get fed! This can be a pretty big job when it's for 26 people, but by God's grace I'm making it through. I've been finding out that I really need to rest in him for even things like this and not get stressed out but just to have fun living life and doing the things that I need to do. Awesome fun stuff!!! oh oh this picture to the left which I didn't take however is of Bryon bay! A really pretty place that is filled with backpackers and with alot of the New Age movement. But regardless it's amazing and there is a YWAM base that we stayed at and can you guess what their target is....yep that's right the backpackers! It's really neat and exciting to hear the stuff that they are doing and...dun dun dun....that's what I get to do!!! A few weeks ago we found out our outreach locations and mine will be Australia. I get to take a team up the east coast of Australia and we get to backpack with people and build relationships with them and through that we get to share the gosple. So it's going to be something that I've never done before. Stretching and amazing all at the same time. I'll have another leader with me (Nate Mell) and then 5 students (2 boys and 3 girls). I'm really looking forward to it and what God is going to do.

Over the past 2 weeks God has really been healing my heart more and yeah walking me through a few things here or there. Speaking to me promises again that I had forgotten about or had trouble believing again. One of those being that I'm his princess. It sounds kind of girly, but its something that I really needed from God. To find affirmation in him and not in others. It's not bad to have it from others but it's first and for most best to have it from him. It's something that I still have to seek from him but it's going pretty good. It feels like at times I'm in a broken state but I think sometimes God wants us in place where all we need is him and there is nothing else that could ever get us through but him. He's been showing himself faithful in many areas and I have to say that I am blessed.

I've been missing home lately too however, and have to day that I LOVE my FAMILY!!! They are probably the best thing in the world and to anyone who reads this you must know this. Okay yeah so they aren't perfect we know that, but they are amazing and I love them from the bottom to the top of my heart. Every single one of them. Here's a picture for you all and yeah my eye on the one side is kind of squished. but i still think it's cute. muahahaha. This was in byron bay at a beach called Broken heads. There was huge waves there and it was pretty fun I got thrown in to the water yippee! among the work i still get to hang out at the beach every now and then! Well I think that's about it for now but if you would like to pray for me a few things that would be wonderful to pray for would be more healing in my heart, restful sleeps however long they might be, that the school would continue to have break through in areas of the students lives and protection. I love you all greatly and can't say enough about how much you have all been a blessing. Honestly I do love you all. Have a blessed day!

The 2 weeks and 5 day mark

Well it's about time for another one of these fun little things!!! yaaaa and I've got a picture this time!!! So this is my room!! well it's bigger than this but mine is the top bunk. As you can see it's rather homey. I've got those pictures up there and since I took that picture I've put more!! Ya it's fun! let me tell you. Underneath me sleeps a wonderful woman by the name of Christina. She's really nice and altho we haven't gotten to know each other very well we like each other. It's about time that her and I go out for coffee. Then on the other side of this room...on the floor...with a matress of course sleeps Helen. She is also a wonderful roomie and we have a lot of fun talking about lots of different things in life.

Lets see what else can I tell you!!! oh oh our first student arrived yesterday. Yes it seems kind of early, but she's here to learn english alittle bit better before the school starts. Our school by the way stars on the 14th of Febuary. It's going to be really sweet. We feel that God's got a lot to say on this school about destiny and really starting that off from the begging. Almost setting them up for the end of dts. It's really sweet. Things are getting in to full swing here. I've finished my certificate 4 training stuff and now I'm in to the BLS training. We've got lots of home work and things to work on. So i'm doing alot of things here and there having lectures and getting used to running the busy life. Hopefully I'll get all the important things that I need to get done first.

Something that God has been teaching me of lately...and this has to do with a few things that I've learned in lectures is that the not so fun stuff that i'm going through right now is soo preparing me for what is to come. There needs to be a preparing peroid in our lives. If you think about all the influencial people in the bible lets take Abraham. God promised him to be the father of many nations. Now when God promised him that he didn't give it to him right away he actually wait 20 years. Yep that's right Abraham didn't get his son till he was about 110 years of age. There was a preparation time for Abraham. Then take Jesus; he was 30 years old when he had his first public outting when he was batized and then after that he started doing his ministry which was only 3 years. That's a whole other thing in itself cause he did that much stuff in 3 years. Anyway for that 30 years he was being prepared for what was to come. Do you see what I'm getting at? God at this moment is preparing me and you for something greater. It's a cool thing to think about. I had it described to me something like this. It's we're rough stones and God is sanding us down to me smooth stones that he can use. Think about the stones that David used to kill Goliath...they were smooth stones and it even says it in the bible. That is what killed Goliath and God wants to take us and make us in to smooth stones so that we too can take down those giants in our lives. Our so called "trials" will make us smoother and smoother. It's a really interesting way to think about it and helped me out a lot. lol so that's my little devotional of the day. yippe. I love you all and hey have a good day when ever you read this.

Home safe and sound!

Hey everyone,
So I made it here safe and sound....Let me tell you it was along flight, but I made it. First it was saskatoon to calgary a not so long flight. Then from calgary to san fran where i was able to sleep...ya sleeping! Then on from San fran was the 13 hour flight to hong kong where we refuels and let a few people off here or there. After this hour or so we went to singapore which was another three hours. It was pretty long, but God helped me last through it. On the flight to singapore I met a really neat young woman and we got talking on the plane for a peroid of time. Soon when we got off the plane in the singapore airport we found ourselves spending much of the nine hour lay over together. She was heading out to India to do some works of service there and we just really had some neat conversations about God and what he ment to each of us. The also really good thing about singapore airlines is that you can purchase a shower or shall I say the use of one for only 6 american dollars. THIS WAS AMAZING! Well talking to my new found friend was even better, but after a long time on flights there is nothing like a hot shower to make you feel better.
Soon my friend and I parted ways and off I went from singapore to brisbane which is about a 7 hour flight. I soon found my self there at the airport walking out and meeting Adam. It's been good to be back. There have deffinately already been some tough times tho. I'm in a bit of a transitional feel right now. Because last time I was here I was a student. So i don't feel like a student and I do feel slightly like a staff member, but I don't know all of my responsiblities etc so it's been interesting to get the feel around here. If you could be praying that the transition goes well and that God is continually share his heart on things with me (his will would be clear in everything) that would be amazing! I know I'm supposed to be here forsure in Brisbane and am soo excited for a school to start.
Tomorrow my trianing will begin so it should be pretty interesting and informative. It's going to be a good one! Well I love you all and I'll be posting some more.
God bless
~Maegan
